As we look forward to the game Saturday, let’s take a look at some clues we might be able to find in Appleton North games and Memorial games this season.
August 30. Memorial 2-1 over Appleton North. An early season match up that gave us a clue both teams were good and had a chance to go deep.
Key games for Appleton North.
Lost to Neenah who has been ranked in the Top 10 most of the year.
Beat Oshkosh West 2-0. This is a common opponent for the two teams. Memorial edged past Oshkosh West 2-1 in early October to start their good run of play.
Tied Bay Port 1-1, Bay Port received a #1 Seed in the tournament. A quality draw.
Tied Hudson 1-1 early in the season. Another strong game and draw.
Beat Green Bay Preble 2-1 in OT in the Sectional Semi-finals. Earlier this year, the same weekend Memorial beat Appleton North, they tied Green Bay Preble, 0-0.
Conclusion….the game should be very competitive. Both teams have quality wins and have played well in big games against strong competition. Does Memorial have the edge having won earlier this year….does Appleton North have the edge as they may view it as a revenge game and be fired up? Memorial still has the taste from last years defeat lingering for motivation as well. I know it will be a good game, can’t wait.
Sectional 2 Games it appears were moved to today. Same for Sectional 3 and 4. Not sure if that was how they were scheduled or they were moved due to weather. #1 Marquette vs. #4 Homestead and #2 Arrowhead vs. #3 Neenah. Might be a surprising result to report soon if the rumors are true.
Section 3 Semi-Finals also look to have moved to Friday. #1 Verona vs. #5 Middleton and #3 Madison East vs. #2 Madison West. Madison area has some pretty serious soccer talent.
Sectional 4 Semi-Finals. #1 Racine Case vs. #4 Kenosha Tremper and #3 Kenosha Bradford vs. #7 Milwaukee Pulaski.
